Dylan Cashion
FOUNDER
Dylan's connection to Africa began long before Safari Spirit. Growing up between the United States and several African countries, she developed a lifelong love for the continent's wildlife, landscapes, and cultures. She first visited Kenya at eight years old, returning at 19 when her family moved there. This marked the beginning of a period of deep involvement in wildlife conservation and exploration.
Beginning in 1999, Dylan became actively involved in conservation work, volunteering with wildlife organizations, participating in wildlife and bird censuses, and joining field conservation initiatives. She also volunteered at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, educating visitors about elephant conservation and the challenges facing Africa's wildlife. These experiences brought her together with fellow conservation enthusiasts, many of whom went on to become accomplished safari guides and naturalists. The friendships formed through those shared experiences, and their enduring commitment to conservation, remain part of Safari Spirit's foundation.
A lifelong naturalist and adventurer, Dylan's experiences across Africa have included climbing Mount Toubkal in Morocco twice, trekking through Rwanda's forests to witness wild mountain gorillas, and camping in lion country. She has spent countless hours exploring Kenya's national parks and wilderness areas, developing an intimate appreciation for its wildlife, landscapes, and ecosystems.
Dylan also holds a bachelor's degree in African Studies, providing an academic foundation in the continent’s history, political development, and diverse societies. Combined with her firsthand experiences, this education has shaped her understanding of Africa and the perspective she brings to every journey.
Safari Spirit grew from Dylan's desire to share the Africa she knows and loves. Drawing on her personal experiences, conservation background, and longstanding local connections, she creates thoughtfully designed journeys that bring travelers closer to Africa's extraordinary wildlife, landscapes, and people.
